Routine…
This is the time of year when we neglect it.
We may have it, but it gets lost. I know it happens to me.
All the stuff goes to the sidelines and I just sit in my arm chair. I do contemplate of the last few days, but, I do it from my living room.
Now, when I get back to my routine, I vow not to be away from it again. Fat chance! Christmas and New Year’s Eve calls.
Let’s talk about Christmas. That is when we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. (Or are supposed to). We instead opt for fancy lights, a feast, presents, a tree, music, gathering with family & friends. That’s our routine.
I remember seeing Jesus Is The Reason For The Season stuff everywhere. As if we needed a reminder. However, maybe we do. I know I do.
Our Christmas Eve service didn’t bring anyone new. A fact I am a bit disappointed with. Not that the “normals” are not great, I just wanted to meet some new folks. Folks whose routine changed. Folks excited about Jesus.
Hmmm…As I am writing this I see Jesus’ fingerprint.
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” – John 8:13
I do enjoy colored light (BIG TIME). Imagine all the colored lights, one light stands out…His. Do I always see it? I will answer that with a no. I wish I do, but I need to look harder.
He was our gift but we concentrate on our family & friends. We want them to feel thanked and appreciated. What if, we follow Jesus’ example and hand off the perfect gift to someone who needs it. Let everyday be Christmas to our family & friends.
They share freely and give generously to those in need… – Psalm 112:9
I like that!
Something I think Jesus was good at. Not only did He give His life, He gave other things too.
What a wonderful example. I have so many things. Do I need them all? No! Yet, I keep getting more stuff. Hmmm…
I would like to blame it on society. But, it is the choices I make. I need to rethink and then go with it.
All this needs to be prayed over. That I am certain.
